Cooler Late Summer Weather is Coming

The last day of Summer has arrived, at least as far as many of our children are concerned.  School is back in session soon an Labor Day is upon us.  However, ImageSummer fun is not done.  September holds so much promise for those who wish to avoid the crowds and still enjoy the warm days and slowly cooling nights.

Summer weather continues through September offering some of the nicest days to be our on the water or on a hike in the mountains,  Huckleberry picking is fantastic in the late summer and prices for rental boats, tours and equipment is just a little better than during the summer rush.

MY HUSBAND AND I TOOK OUR KAYAKS TO CITY BEACH IN SANDPOINT, IDAHO THIS MORNING FOR A BRISK WAKE ME UP PADDLE. THE WIND WAS SLIGHTLY UP AND WE EXPERIENCED A FEW WAVES TO GET US INTERESTED AS WE BEGAN OUR SHORT TRIP UP SAND CREEK. SAND CREEK IS A GENTLE  STREAM RUNNING ALONG THE SHOPPING DISTRICT OF SANDPOINT, YOUkayak sandpoint, kayak coeur d'Alene, wood strip kayak PADDLE BY BOAT DOCKS AND UNDER TWO BRIDGES WHERE SWALLOWS HAVE BUILT THEIR MUD NESTS.  THE STREAM IS OFTEN BUSY WITH DUCKS AND GEESE  ALONG THE EDGE. THE CITY HAS RECENTLY PUT IN A CANOE/KAYAK DOCK THAT ALLOWS YOU TO LEAVE YOUR BOAT AND WALK THE  HALF BLOCK  INTO TOWN. WE HAD  ICE CREAM CONES BEFORE RETURNING TO THE DOCK.  AND HOME.  THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO START THE MORNING, I LOVE THIS SIMPLE ACTIVITY IN THE HEART OF A SMALL TOWN.
